American Craft Council Recap

St. Paul RiverCentre - April 7th-9th

Thank you to all who participated in our Instagram giveaway! We hope those who won tickets enjoyed the show. For those of you who didn't make it, we wanted to give you a little recap of our Make Room and our inspiration behind it all. All items available for purchase will be linked below.

This year marked the 75th Anniversary of the American Craft Council. This year's show was titled: "Space and Time," inspired by the iconic images that celebrate the history of craft by decade from the '40s to today. Each designer that participated in the Make Room was given a decade to design their room around. Partnering with Hygge & West, who provided and installed wallpaper from their removable wallpaper tile collection, we chose the 2010's. We wanted to represent what has been relevant for the last seven years. Millennials were a big part of that inspiration, bringing a new market with a lot of buying power. They have an affinity for nostalgia - including decades they did not grow up in. This results in the mixing of old and new - vintage and modern. There is also a care behind how products are made and there is a desire to support local makers and designers when possible. We centered our Make Room around these ideas. We also can't think of another time in design history when people created gallery walls. Shout out to Ashley Mary Art for providing the amazing artwork we featured in the space. It was a huge hit with show goers and made the perfect statement in the space. We featured the Inheritance Loveseat by Stephen Kenn and the Elko Credenza by Matt Eastvold, both of whom we believe will continue to influence design for years to come. The accessories we chose for the room fit that narrative as well. The Noodly Lamp by Erin Smith,  Dotted Planter and Elevated Planter by Ben Fiess, Modernica Planters and the Folded Vessel by Chen Chen & Kai Williams.
